HIGHLIGHTS IN THE RESERVE

This spectacular trip offer the best of Duong Lam, Mai Chau and Pu Luong within just 5 days. Discover a corner of Vietnam where ancient history and stunning landscapes collide. Travel from the ancient relics, Mai Chau - the mountainous townlet of the Thai people - it is one of the most picturesque regions of Vietnam’s Northwest. Nearby, the Pu Luong Nature Reserve is an area with outstanding beauty and biodiversity and worth exploring by foot.

 

DAY 1: HANOI – DUONG LAM  - MAI CHAU

Leave Hanoi and transfer to Duong Lam village, a purely agricultural village of the Northern Red River delta where still preserve many hundred-year-old houses. Upon arrival, bike along tiny ancient alleys to visit Mong Phu temple in Mong Phu hamlet - the only hamlet whose original village entrance gate remains intact, dedicated to national heroes. Continue riding around the village to discover the daily life and farming working of Vietnamese peasants along the terrace with a stop in two ancient houses: the biggest ancient house was build 200 years ago and the most ancient house back to 400 years  ago.

After lunch and resting, visit Ngo Quyen temple and Phung Hung temple, places dedicated to two national heroes Ngo Quyen and Phung Hung. Again biking to visit Mia Pagoda (other hamlet in Duong Lam village), is built in 15 th century and admire 287 statues of all sizes, among with are famous sculpture such as the statue of Buddha in the Himalayas and the statues of the Eight Vajra Deities. Transfer to Mai Chau .

DAY 2: MAI CHAU – PU LUONG

After breakfast, depart to Pu Luong Nature Reserve by road via abreathtaking mountain pass giving you a panoramic view of the whole valley. You arrive at your accommodation in time for a delicious lunch, followed by free time to explore the beautiful retreat, with its captivating panoramic views and tranquil setting. Transffed 12km to a suspension bridge over the Cham River, where you begin your walk in search of stunning water wheels. Get up close to each wheel and discover how water is moved from river to handmade bamboo aqueducts via simple constructions of all sizes.

Arriving at a local fisherman’s house, you have a short rest to gear up for the bamboo river rafting with Dinh and his team. Float along the calm river and enjoy the views, in between learning how to paddle and steer your handcrafted rafts. Arriving at scenic Tan Lap bridge, you disembark to be transferred back to hotel for dinner.

DAY 3: TREKING PU LUONG

     Start early to descend into the beautiful valley where you walk around tumbling rice terraces. Trek through small paths shrouded in vegetation to slowly reveal a picturesque village sitting at the base of a towering mountain.

Continuing to the base of the valley, you weave between roads and farmland, villages and wild fields, ponds and rivers, mountains and open land. After enjoying delicious food, you have free time to explore the refreshing water to the nearby river, before moving to our pick up point to be transferred back to hotel

DAY 4: ISOLATED KHO MUONG VILLAGE

Take a short ride into the beautiful valley leading to Kho Muong. Along the way you will have a chance to enjoy beautiful terrace rice fields. After enjoying the view from above we will visit the isolated village is surrounded by a huge mountain range, you can come to visit a local family, this is a great chance to learn more about life style and culture of the local. Have lunch and visit Bat cave close to the village.

DAY 5: PU LUONG - HANOI

Breakfast and have the chance to get close to village life and interact with locals living in the hill near your hotel. Glimpse at daily life, walk around working farmland and rice fields, and learn about making weaving colourful textiles. After have lunch way back to Hanoi.
