VIETNAM BIKING - 18 DAYS / 17 NIGHTS - (Code: VSE.BIK-01)

This is special biking covers the entire length of Vietnam, from the northern capital of Hanoi to bustling Saigon. We ride on country roads on either side of the main north–south artery of Highway One. Along the way we see many of Vietnam’s historic and scenic highlights.

DAY 1: ARRIVE IN HANOI [ DINNER]

Arrival in Ha Noi and transfer to hotel, at leisure the rest of the day. Overnight in Ha Noi.

DAY 2: HANOI - HALONG [BREAKFAST/LUNCH/DINNER] (No biking only this point)

Take a half-day tour in the morning includes the most highlight sights such as Ho Chi Minh Mausoleum where his body is kept here, stilt house, one pillar pagoda which was built by the King Ly Thai Tong who ruled from 1028 to 1054. Temple of Literature was founded in 1070 dedicated to Confucius, and in order to educate sons of mandarins, the Vietnam's first university was also established here in 1070. Leave for Ha Long in the afternoon. Check in the hotel. Overnight in Ha Long.

Note: Ho Chi Minh mausoleum will closed on Monday and Friday and from Sep to Nov for maintenance

DAY 3: HALONG - HANOI [ BREAKFAST/LUNCH/DINNER]

Transfer to the pier. Take a morning boat trip cruising on the bay with its 3.000 limestone islands rising from the clear, emerald waters of the gulf of Tonkin covering an area of l,500sq kms. Visit one of the World's Wonders - the beautiful grottoes naturally created of colorful  stalactites and stalagmites that are still forming for millions of years ago till now. The trip ends up with a fresh seafood lunch on board. Back to Ha Noi by road in the afternoon, check in hotel. Overnight in Ha Noi.

DAY 4: HANOI - LANG SON [ BREAKFAST/LUNCH/DINNER]

Leave Ha Noi early in the morning for Lang Son by bus and bike, nestling on the Chinese border, 180 kms North of Ha Noi. On arrival transfer to the hotel and visit the beautiful market in the afternoon, Tam Thanh Grotto and Tien Pagoda.  Overnight in Lang Son.

DAY 5: LANG SON - CAO BANG [ BREAKFAST/LUNCH/DINNER]

Leave Lang Son by bus and bike in the morning, then head northwest through the spectacular mountain landscape to Cao Bang. Transfer to guest house on arrival and visit to Pac Bo Cave in the afternoon. Overnight in Cao Bang.

DAY 6: CAO BANG - HANOI - HUE [ BREAKFAST/LUNCH/DINNER]

Back up to Ha Noi by bus and bike and then transfer to railway station for the night train Ha Noi-Hue. Overnight on the train.

DAY 7: ARRIVE IN HUE - CITY TOUR HUE [ BREAKFAST/LUNCH/DINNER]

Arrive in Hue in the morning, transfer to the hotel then have a city tour in Hue. Hue, the city was once become as Vietnam's Capital from 1802 to 1945 ruled by 13 Emperors under the Nguyen dynasty. Traditionally, it also has been one of Vietnam's main cultural, religious and educational centers. Cycling for visit to Imperial Citadel that was mostly built in 1804 by Gia Long, known as the first Emperor who established the dynasty. Continue the tour along the romantically named Huong river (Perfume River) to the best-known Thien Mu Pagoda. The pagoda itself was originally founded in 1601, and has become as one of the most famous structures in Vietnam. Later on head up to the tombs of Emperors Tu Duc and Khai Dinh. Return to hotel for check-in. Overnight in Hue.

DAY 8: HUE - HOI AN [ BREAKFAST/LUNCH/DINNER]

Leave Hue in the morning for Hoi An via the spectacular Hai Van Pass. On arrival in Da Nang, visit Cham museum that was founded in 1915 and has become the main museum in Vietnam where exhibits the finest Champa sculpture collection in the world. Cycling further south of Da Nang to Marble Mountain. Arrive in Hoi An in late afternoon, check in hotel. Overnight in HoiAn.

DAY 9 : HOI AN [ BREAKFAST/LUNCH/DINNER]

Half-day cycling to rural area around Hoi An through rice paddies dotted with villages, then head up to Cua Dai beach. Hoi An was once one of South-East-Asia's major international port during the seventeenth and eighteenth centuries for Dutch. Portuguese, Chinese, Japanese and other trading vessels. The tourist's attractions on Hoi An are its old Vietnamese-Japanese-Chinese architectures and the peaceful atmosphere. Visit to places in town (about 1 sq km) in the afternoon includes Chinese temple, old house, museum. Japanese covered bridge, at leisure for shopping. Overnight in Hoi An.

DAY 10: HOI AN - QUI NHON [ BREAKFAST/LUNCH/DINNER]

Leave Hoi An in the morning for Qui Nhon. Heading down South by bus and bike as the scenic Highway 1  follows the coast South-ward. On arrival in Qui Nhon, check in hotel. Overnight in Qui Nhon.

DAY 11: QUI NHON - NHA TRANG [ BREAKFAST/ LUNCH/DINNER]

Continuously heading further down Highway 1 by bus and bike to Southern central region of Vietnam. The city of Nha Trang is famous for its beautiful beach, covering an area of 15 kms long situated in the Southern Central of Vietnam. On arrival, check in hotel. Overnight Nha Trang.

DAY 12: NHA TRANG [ BREAKFAST/LUNCH/DINNER]

The city of Nha Trang is famous for its beautiful beach, covering an area of 15 kms long situated in the Southern Central of Vietnam. Take a half-day boat trip for norkeling and relaxing on an island's beach off from Nha Trang coast. Explore the fishing village with an amazing experience of rowing on a small bamboo basket boat. In the afternoon, city tour to the town to visit the Oceanographic Institute founded in 1923 - it has an aquarium and tanks are home to diverse live specimens of local marine life, including seahorses. Long Son Pagoda was founded in the late 19th century, which has resident monks and a giant sitting Buddha statue built on top of the hill in 1963. The Chain towers of  Ponugar were built in between 8th and 12th  century, used for Hindu worship in early times, and recently is used for worship to Goddess of the City. At leisure in the evening. Overnight in Nha Trang.

DAY 13: NHA TRANG - PHAN THIET [ BREAKFAST/LUNCH/DINNER]

Leave Nha Trang in the morning and heading down South for Phan Thiet by bus and bike. Stop in Phan Rang for visit to the most well maintained Cham tower in Phan Rang, the thirteenth-century-Poklongiarai tower. The landscape between Phan Rang and Phan Thiet changes to an aid semi- desert with sandy soil and prickly pear cactus. Check in hotel on arrival. Overnight in Phan Thiet.

DAY 14: PHAN THIET - HO CHI MINH [ BREAKFAST/LUNCH/DINNER]

At leisure to relax until check out at noontime, then leave for Ho Chi Minh City by bus and bike. Make some nice photo stops at semi-dessert of cactus garden, where dragon fruit is planted by local people and stop at dense rubber plantations to see how it is on processed. Check in hotel on arrival. Overnight in Ho Chi Minh City.

DAY 15: HO CHI MINH - CU CHI - HO CHI MINH [ BREAKFAST/LUNCH/DINNER]

Breakfast at the hotel.

Heading up to North-West of Ho Chi Minh City for Cu Chi tunnels, an amazing underground tunnel network constructed by Vietnamese resistance fighters within twenty years for the long struggle of independence. Return to Ho Chi Minh city and take a half day city tour  with highlights of Reunification Palace which used to be the former Presidential Palace of the South Government in the wartime. Notre Dame Cathedral and the Central post office are the two constructions have been left over by the French during its colonial period. Visit the War museum or the History museum.  End the trip at Lacquer-ware factory with the finest Vietnamese special art processed on wood. Overnight in Ho Chi Minh City.

DAY 16: HO CHI MINH - CAI BE - VINH LONG - CAN THO [ BREAKFAST/LUNCH/DINNER]

Leave Ho Chi Minh City for Cai Be by bus and bike, then take a boat trip to Vinh Long.  Wholesale big boats at Cai Be floating market will be seen in the trip, recognized by what they sell through its wooden poles hanging samples of their products. Cruise up to Vinh Long, visit to pottery firm. Transfer to Can Tho, check in hotel. Overnight in CanTho.

DAY 17: CAN THO - HO CHI MINH [ BREAKFAST/LUNCH/DINNER]

Take a morning boat trip reaching up to Cai Rang floating market, where hundreds of boats of all sizes gather to exchange their farming products lively. Follow another way back to Can Tho through small water coconut shaded canals; stop at a farmer's house to enjoy some tropical fruits. Cruise back to Can Tho, then back up to Ho Chi Minh City, check in hotel. Overnight in Ho Chi Minh City.

DAY 18: DEPARTURE [ BREAKFAST]

At leisure until transfer for departure.
