Da Nang receives first international flight from Taiwan after pandemic

A flight from Taipei arrived in Da Nang in central Vietnam on Friday morning, marking the resumption of the air route after over two years of Covid disruption.

The flight operated by Taiwanese airline Starlux carrying over 170 passengers landed at Da Nang Airport at 9:25 a.m.

There would be three weekly flights on the route.

Miko, a tourist from Taipei said that this was her first visit to Da Nang and she will stay in the city for five days to visit all tourist attractions and enjoy local cuisine, Vietnam News Agency reported.

Taiwanese authorities relaxed Covid entry restrictions and resumed visa services for Vietnamese travelers from mid-October.

Since tourism reopening in March this year, the number of international visitors to Da Nang has so far reached over 200,000, exceeding this year's target of 180,000.

Da Nang is the busiest tourist city in central Vietnam, and is used as a springboard to access three worldwide famous heritage sites – Hue Imperial Capital, My Son Sanctuary and Hoi An Town.

Vietnam reopened its borders and resumed pre-pandemic visa policies on March 15.
