GRAND LAOS TRAIL: FROM ROYAL HERITAGE TO THE MIGHTY MEKONG

Begin your day by exploring Luang Prabang's most iconic temples, including Wat Sene, the city's oldest temple, and the magnificent Wat Xieng Thong, renowned for its elegant architecture and gracefully sweeping roofs. Continue to Wat Visoun, Wat Aham, and Wat Mai, each reflecting the rich spiritual heritage of Laos.

In the afternoon, visit the former Royal Palace, now the National Museum, home to an impressive collection of royal treasures and artifacts showcasing Laos' rich cultural heritage. Continue to the summit of Mount Phousi to admire the sacred golden stupa and enjoy panoramic views over Luang Prabang and the Mekong River at sunset.

Later, take part in a private Baci Ceremony, one of Laos' most cherished spiritual traditions. During this meaningful ritual, blessings are offered for good health, happiness, and prosperity as white cotton strings are gently tied around the wrists.

Rise early for the opportunity to witness the traditional Tak Bat ceremony, where saffron-robed monks silently collect alms from local residents in a centuries-old spiritual ritual.

Afterwards, transfer to the pier and embark on a scenic cruise along the Mekong River. Visit Ban Chan, a traditional pottery village, as well as Chomphet Temple and Sakarine Cave, before continuing to the sacred Pak Ou Caves, home to thousands of Buddha images of various sizes.

In the afternoon, cruise back to Luang Prabang, stopping en route to visit Xang Khong Village, renowned for its traditional weaving and handmade mulberry paper, as well as Wat Xieng Lek. End the day with a beautiful sunset at Prabath Tai Temple.

Return to Luang Prabang and visit the Traditional Arts and Ethnology Centre (TAEC) to discover the diverse cultures of Laos' ethnic groups. Continue to the Ock Pop Tok Living Crafts Centre, where you will learn about traditional Lao weaving techniques and textile craftsmanship.

This morning, visit Tham Jang Cave, a historic limestone cave that once served as a refuge for local people during the Indochina War and, according to local legend, from Ho Chinese raiders in the 19th century.

Continue your journey by road to Vientiane, the charming capital of Laos.

Upon arrival, begin a city tour featuring the country's most important landmarks, including Wat Phra Keo, the former home of the Emerald Buddha before its relocation to Bangkok in 1779, the elegant Wat Si Saket, the oldest surviving temple in Vientiane, the sacred That Luang Stupa, the national symbol of Laos, and Patuxai, the city's iconic victory monument.

Transfer to the airport for the flight to Pakse.  Upon arrival, welcome by our representative and transfer to the city, stroll through the city market, one of the most important in Laos.

Then, visit the SOS village, an educational structure for orphaned children. Transfer and check-in at the hotel.

Dinner and overnight in Pakse

Embark on a traditional boat for a scenic two-hour cruise along the Mekong River to Champasak, the former royal capital of southern Laos. En route, stop at Houei Thomo Village and enjoy a short walk through the forest to the hidden ruins of Oum Moung, an ancient Khmer temple nestled amid lush vegetation.

Continue by road to Wat Phou, a magnificent pre-Angkorian temple dating back to the 11th century and recognized as a UNESCO World Heritage Site. Set against the hillside, this sacred sanctuary remains an important place of worship and offers a fascinating glimpse into the region's rich cultural and religious heritage.

After the visit, transfer to Don Daeng Island and check in at your riverside lodge.

Depart by road to Khone Phapheng Falls, the largest and most powerful waterfall on the Mekong River. Continue by local motorboat through the breathtaking Siphandone (4,000 Islands), a peaceful archipelago renowned for its unspoiled natural beauty.

Arrive on Khone Island and enjoy lunch at a local restaurant. In the afternoon, discover the island's French colonial heritage, including the historic railway built in 1897 to bypass the Mekong's rapids.

Continue to the picturesque Liphi Falls, also known as the "Devil's Corridor", before boarding the boat once again for the transfer to the tranquil Khong Island.
